Our Values: Mission, Philosophy, & Goals
Brownell-Talbot is a college preparatory school
dedicated to its tradition of academic excellence
in a safe, caring community.
The school provides an environment that challenges students continually to acquire knowledge, think critically, listen with discernment, and speak and write proficiently. It is also the school's obligation to develop in each student an appreciation and understanding of the United States of America and its political and economic institutions, and to prepare students to serve their community.
Brownell-Talbot School is committed to each student's exploration, understanding, and development of the creative, intellectual, physical, spiritual, and social self. Such understanding includes the indispensable value of each person's inherent dignity, integrity, self-esteem, and self-discipline.
The practical application of this philosophy shall emphasize the following:
- Understanding of self.
- Preparation for success and for life in a technologically-based, global society.
- Personal achievement and academic excellence consistent with each student's abilities, interests, and talents.
- Critical thinking and decision making.
- Our country's heritage, its democracy and free-enterprise system.
- Community service.
- Judeo-Christian principles and values.
